Posted by Wayne_Fielder on 2007/6/27 18:41:12 (860 reads)

Preparations are under way for the Battle of Richmond the weekend of August 25 and 26. Yeah, I know it's two months away but it's never too early to plan for these things ya know.

We may have an extra set of gear for folks who may want to try this out with the Infantry. Check back here as we know more about our situation. If you would like to get your name in the hat anyway, go here and fill out our application for membership in the Infantry!

We have pictures up from Georgetown. Check'm out on the right hand column!

We had 3 new guys join us at Georgetown and they did a fabulous job of picking up the drill and putting up with the no-quite-Orderly Sergeant. They ain't quite members yet so you'll have to wait for their names. Until then, just help us welcome them to the fold! ;)

7th Kentucky Inc : Camp Nelson
Posted by Wayne_Fielder on 2007/5/12 19:30:00 (942 reads)

UPDATE: Pictures are available on the right column under "IMAGES"

We just completed our first outing for 2007 at Camp Nelson with the able assistance of the Elementary Class of Jessamine County Kentucky.

We setup stations for:

Campaign Living
School of Infantry
Archeology
Quartermaster
Civil War Medicine
The Home Front
School of Artillery
Civil War Officers

The kids went from station to station learning about each topic. They were attentive and had some excellent questions as always! We took some pictures of the event and they should be in the gallery very soon.

Preservation Efforts : Preservation by relocation?
Posted by Wayne_Fielder on 2007/4/5 19:17:51 (860 reads)

Obviously, we haven't had much to say of late. For that I apologize and promise to post more here to keep the wheels from rusting together.

My guess is that everyone has heard about the guy who stole documents from the National Archives. No...no...not former National Security Advisor Sandy Berger. No, this particular waste of carbon offsets is called Denning McTague. Mr. McTaque stashed 164 original documents from the Civil War period in his notepad and walked out of the National Archives.

All but 3 of the documents have been recovered thanks to a publishing company in Gettysburg.

So what is the punishment for this crime?

McTague pleaded guilty to one federal count of stealing government property. He could receive up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine when he is sentenced July 12, but federal sentencing guidelines call for much less.

So the guidelines call for much less...like performing 100 hours of community service and pay a fine of $50,000 as well as $6,905 for the administrative costs of his two-year probation? We'll see I guess. I like the 10 years and quarter mil myself...for both of them.
